For immediate release: june 21, 2013 www.iowadnr.gov | facebook.com/iowadnr | twitter.com/iowadnr | pinterest.com/iowadnr MAYNARD WASTEWATER BYPASS GOES TO LITTLE VOLGA RIVER MEDIA CONTACT: Susan Miller at 563-927-2640 or [log in to unmask] MAYNARD – The city of Maynard in Fayette County reported a discharge that sent about 200 gallons of untreated sewage to the Little Volga River. The bypass occurred at 10:35 a.m. Friday when one of two pumps at a pumping station overheated. The city acted quickly to repair that pump and stopped the discharge within 10 minutes. The second pump was out of commission while the city waited for parts delivery. However, the city wastewater operator expects to repair it today. The DNR will continue to monitor the situation. - 30 - Karen Grimes Information SpecialistIowa Department of Natural ResourcesP 515.281.5135 [log in to unmask] State Office | 502 E Ninth St | Des Moines, IA 50319WWW.IOWADNR.GOVLeading Iowans in Caring for Our Natural Resources.
