Metropolitan Planning Organization meetings August 19th /23rd

The MPO has completed drafts of the Year 2030 Long-Range Transportation
Plan. This plan has proposed transportation projects for the Des Moines Area
MPO Planning Area from the year 2000 to the year 2030.

The proposed Northeast Polk County Beltway is included in this plan. There
are upcoming public input meetings.

On Thursday, August 19, there will be a meeting at the Kirkendall Public
Library in Ankeny at 6:30.

On Monday, August 23rd the meeting will be at the Pleasant Hill City Hall
Community Room at 6:30.

These are great opportunities to voice concerns about the proposed beltway
and other transportation-related issues. However, the MPO will not have the
answers to all your questions about the beltway. The MPO staff knew very
little about the beltway at a public meeting in July.
