We hope you can join us at this year’s annual meeting of theIowa Chapter of the Sierra Club on October 5 at Clover Woods Camp and RetreatCenter north of Madrid, Iowa. This year’stheme is “Re-Wilding Iowa: The Council of All Beings”.
You won’t want to miss this meeting.
Learn about Iowa’s Wildlife Action Plan. . . Beinspired by a display of artwork about environmental issues . . . Come to themeeting and be energized to make a difference for our natural heritage.
As part of the Council of All Beings, you will be asked tostep aside from your human identity and speak on behalf of another life-formliving in Iowa. This will heighten awareness of our interdependence inthe living body of Earth, and to strengthen our commitment to defend it. Dr. Jean Eells, from Webster City, will be leading theCouncil. The schedule is 9:00 – registration, art display, make a mask if youdid not bring one with you
10:00 – Re-Wilding, led by Jean Eells 12:00 – salad lunch, prepared by Chef Donna Prizgintas 1:00 – Re-Wilding, led by Jean Eells 3:30 – What’s Next? 4:30 – look at art display 5:00 – hike at Clover Woods
Bring a mask of a plant, animal, or natural feature in Iowa.
Participate in the book exchange. Bring anyenvironmental and nature related books you would like to donate to others, andtake some home with you after the event.
Lunch is included as part of the $35 admission fee. The lunch will be prepared by Chef DonnaPrizgintas, radio host and personal chef to Hollywood celebrities. Donnahas a remarkable flair for making delicious food from what is available locallyand seasonally.
Optional, overnight. If you want to stay overnight onOctober 5, Clover Woods offers bunk beds for $7.00 a night. Bring yourown bedding.
Directions to Clover Woods Camp & Retreat Center, 1991Peach Ave, Madrid, Iowa, near Ledges State Park - From either Highway 17, northof Madrid, Iowa or from Highway 17, south of Boone and Luther, Iowa - travelwest on 280th Street from 2.8 miles and then travel south on Peach Ave 1 mile.
