This afternoon, the Bush administration will sell nearly 30 million acres
of prime polar bear habitat to oil companies. Now home to polar bears,
whales, and walruses, Alaska’s Chukchi Sea will soon be at the mercy of
the oil and gas industry.
Thankfully, citizens around the country are taking a stand to protect the
polar bear and its arctic habitat. From the streets of New Jersey to the
icy sidewalks of Anchorage, Alaska, individuals are showing up today at
Shell gas stations with polar bear masks and signs to protest the
company’s interest in drilling the Chukchi Sea.
In the spirit of these protests, please take action and send an email to
the CEO of Shell Oil. Together, we will continue fighting to ensure that
the polar bear’s arctic habitat is safe from oil drilling.
Thanks for keeping Alaska wild,
