Charles Winterwood.

ABOUT THE AIR COMMITTEE

The Air Committee reports to the Environmental Quality Strategy Team
(EQST), and is seeking 3-5 members selected for their skills, experience
and demonstrated ability to organize successful issue campaigns. Members
are appointed to two-year terms and may be reappointed twice for a total
of six years continuous service before taking a break of at least one year.

The Sierra Club's Air Committee has leadership responsibility in the Sierra
Club;

-- for coordinating the Club's efforts to address atmospheric air quality
issues especially as they affect public health and the environment;

-- for coordinating the Club's efforts to protect visibility in our
national parks and Class I wilderness areas;

-- for coordination of the Club's legal strategies and ongoing litigation
on air quality issues;

-- for providing encouragement, education and training to Sierra Club
chapters and groups working on air issues;

-- for identifying and analyzing emerging air issues and for developing new
and amended Club policy positions and guidelines;

-- for establishing and maintaining the Club's Air Forum, which will
consist of Sierra Club members and allies with relevant expertise, a
vehicle for information sharing regarding air issues.

ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY STRATEGY TEAM (EQST)

The EQST is one of four Strategy Teams that report to the Club's
Conservation Governance Committee, which is directly responsible to the
Board of Directors for all of the Club's issues work. Appointed by the
Conservation Governance Committee, the EQST is responsible for the Club's
pollution-related issues work. They help to shape Club policies and
positions, recruit and apply necessary expertise, assist grassroots
activists, and focus Club resources where they can produce the best
results.

To carry out its responsibilities, the EQST established eight committees,
the Air Quality, Corporate Accountability, Environmental Justice, Toxics,
Radiation, Waste Prevention, Livable Communities and Water Committees.

ABOUT COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS & MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES

The EQST seeks to achieve cultural, ethnic, gender and geographic diversity
in making appointments and strives to assure that at least half of the
members of its committees and task forces currently hold or have recently
held positions of responsibility with their local Sierra Club Chapter or
Group. Applicants must be current Sierra Club members. They must
demonstrate a clear willingness to commit the time and energy necessary to
help the Committee to carry out its responsibilities. They should be able
to communicate through traditional means, email, and periodic conference
calls, and must be able to work independently and with others on the
committee's programs and projects.

Sierra Club of Canada (SCC) members are not eligible to apply to this
announcement. Please contact [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> for information on the criteria
required for SCC members to be appointed as liaisons or members to CGC and
its subentities.
