Neila was also quoted on NPR for logical opposition to lead in our
environment and wildlife.  This is her comments from an article in
today's DM Register.  Phyllis
The Sierra Club’s Iowa chapter is already reviewing legal options to
challenge or reverse the governor’s actions, noted Neila Seaman, director
of the group.
Seaman said the governor’s decision to intervene doesn’t make sense to
her.
Even if lead shot poisoning is endangering only a small numbers of
animals, alternative types of ammunition — including steel shot — is
easily available at a slightly higher cost, she said. That should dictate
that the rule stands simply as a precautionary measure to protect public
and animal health, she added.
“Is this what we want for our wildlife population? I don’t think so,”
Seaman said.
