Hello,

You have been sent this email because you are among the ranks of Sierra
Club leadership in the Iowa Chapter.  You may be an outing leader, an
ExComm member, a webmaster or newsletter editor, a chair or vice chair,
part of administrative staff, or play some other important Club role.

The Outdoor Activities Training Program (OATP), out of the national office,
in conjunction with Kansas Chapter, is pleased to announce a weekend
outing leader training workshop near KCI Airport in Waldron, MO on March
1-3,
2002.  Cost is $45 including food, lodging, and training materials.  The
OATP is an integrated training program offering leadership training to
Group and Chapter Outing leaders, Inner City Outings leaders, and National
Outing leaders.

The OATP needs your help in marketing this unique training opportunity
which is right around the corner!!!  The training program is entering its
3rd year - and we've got a great workshop to deliver.  Outing leaders of
all types (yes - even those 'old-timers') are encouraged to attend and are
sure to benefit.  You can always learn more - so sign up for yourself and
tell others.  Conversely, new recruits are strongly urged to attend.  This
is our only workshop in your region for 2002.

Here's the link to our training website on the Club's extranet.  On it,
you'll find all the workshop details (where it is, how to get there, etc.),
what's taught, and how to register.  Space is limited ---  so check it
out, spread the word, and sign-up soon

Hopefully, you're saying "Hm.  Sounds interesting.  What can I do? (besides
sign up yourself)"
Here's how you can help spread the word:

Forward this e-mail to outing leaders, others within your local
leadership network, as well as to anyone who might be interested in
becoming an outing leader for the Club.

If you are a newsletter editor or webmaster - put a prominently placed
link to our site or take the text from the site and include in your next
   newsletter.

If you'd like an electronic version of the official announcement in
Word, please contact me.  This can be used to make copies and give out
at meetings, outings, or retreats.  Or the Word version can be used for
   newsletter text.

The OATP looks very forward to coming to the Heartland to offer our
one of a kind professional outdoor leader training specific to the Sierra
Club.  Thank you in advance for helping us get the word out to the
frontlines .

Never Stop Training !!

Safe, Happy, and Inspired,
Steven
