The Senate Judiciary Committee this afternoon brought out what has been
referred to as the Fraise bill, which would establish county review
committees to provide citizen evaluation of CAFO siting under the matrix
system. This action gets our issue on the calendar with a bill which can be
amended. It will have a SF number Monday or early in the week.
The vote was a party line vote, except one Democrat, Sen. Hancock, voted
'no'.
This is not a 'local control' bill by any real stretch, nor is the action in
the House. HSB 267, the Kuhn-Frevert CAFO bill came out of House
Environmental Protection Committee on a party line vote. I will have a more
thorough analysis of this bill this weekend.
First Funnel is over.....sigh, hooray, now we can rest a weekend. Lots to
complete in updating my tracking database, so will have a full report later
this weekend on as much as I can of what survives the funnel
