BARNS
Barns are the cathedrals of the countryside. They are the heart of our
agricultural heritage. For over a century they have been a dominant feature
of our landscape. In the past decades, due to changes in farming practices
and the cost of maintenance, many beautiful barns are disappearing at
alarming rates. We need to save our barns. Understanding and appreciating
our past can prepare us for the future. Old barns can often be modified for
new uses in ways that are economically wise. We must take responsibility
for saving our barns.

PURPOSE OF WORKSHOP
This workshop is intended to provide an overview of the importance and
appreciation of barns, and to provide general background for individuals
wishing to restore barns. Information will be provided about the National
