Pasted below is a flyer announcing a new Arctic Action Hotline, which
activists can call toll-free to listen to an Arctic update and get patched
through to their Senator's office and/or send a fax. For patch-through calls
they'll get talking points, and for faxes they'll be able to listen to the
text of their fax. The current message of the calls and faxes focuses on
keeping Arctic drilling revenues out of the FY04 budget. For callers from
states where both senators are equal priorities, calls/faxes will alternate
between the caller's 2 senators from one day to the next; for other states
where one of the senators is a higher priority, callers will get sent to that
senator's office. We will be updating the information and the call to action
periodically.

Spread the word!

Arctic Action Hotline

1-877-703-9491(toll-free) Conservationists have a new, easy way to help
protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from drilling!

GET NEWS on the latest schemes to spoil this wild place

TAKE ACTION!
Talk to your Senator’s office or send a fax

The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is one of the wildest, most pristine
places in the United States. More than 100 species of wildlife and birds rely
on the coastal plain. The Gwich'in people have lived in this region for
hundreds of generations. Yet drilling proponents are trying with backdoor
attempts to override the conservation purposes of the Refuge to allow oil
drilling. Drilling in the Arctic Refuge will produce too little oil to reduce
energy prices or decrease our dependence on foreign oil. The more
cost-effective, sustainable solution to the nation's energy needs is to
promote clean, renewable energy sources and to better conserve the energy we
have. This will save much more oil and gas than could ever be taken from the
Arctic Refuge, without causing lasting damage to this delicate and
irreplaceable ecosystem.
