IOWATER Training Workshop
Water monitoring training set for October

October 16-17, Springbrook Conservation Education Center IOWATER - Iowa's
new statewide volunteer water quality monitoring program - has scheduled
its second statewide training workshop. The workshop will provide
volunteers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in assessing and
evaluating the chemical, physical, and biological health of aquatic
ecosystems and their watersheds. Participants will learn how to collect and
analyze aquatic organisms, chemical water samples, and physical stream
attributes. Instruction in organizing local volunteer groups will also be
provided. Registration fee is $20 before October 1 ($25 thereafter).

Agenda: Saturday - Introduction - Status of Water Quality in Iowa and the
Role of Volunteer Monitoring; The Basics of Monitoring -Classroom
Instruction; Hands-On Monitoring - Field work; Water Monitoring Equipment
on a Budget - Make Your Own.; Data Review and Reporting-What the Data Says,
How/Where to Report; Watershed Connection-Water Quality and Land Use;
Logistics of Organizing and Maintaining Volunteer Groups.

Registration fee is $20 bo Oct. 1st and $25 after Oct. 1. NOTE: Workshop
registration is limited. Admittance based on date registration is received.
