Home lawn and garden enthusiasts wagering spring actually will come and
looking for ways to avoid using harsh herbicides and pesticides are invited
to attend a presentation on organic lawn and garden care at 7:30 p.m.,
Thursday, April 12, at the First Christian Church located at 217 Iowa Ave.
in Iowa City. The event is sponsored by Environmental Advocates (EA).

The presenters will be Patrick O'Malley, commercial horticulturalist, Iowa
State University Extension, and Chris Taliga, a restoration ecologist who
is a national board member of Wild Ones and director of the Land
Stewardship Program for Iowa Valley Resource Conservation and Development.

The 7:30 p.m. talk will be preceded by a historically delicious potluck at
6:30 p.m. and EA board elections, a historically swift and painless
process, at 7:15 p.m. Individuals who would like to attend the potluck are
asked to bring a dish to share. For more information, call 319/351-6410.

EA was formed in 1987 to make people more aware of local environmental
issues and to promote creative solutions to environmental problems. EA's
web site is www.jccn.iowa-city.ia.us/~envadvoc.

privately through the University of Iowa. It is
not a UI work account.
