Although I am sure we all appreciate the efforts of pro-environment
candidates, I don't believe the Sierra Club's Iowa Topics Listserve is a
place for advertisements for candidates. Our members include Democrats,
Republicans, Green Party members, and Independents. However, I would agree
with Lanny Schwartz that it is important to know the voting record of the
candidates on issues such as the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. We should
all try harder to gather information about those voting records and provide
that information to the list. One organization that focuses on voting
records is the League of Conservation Voters and their website is
<www.lcv.org>. This Topics list is for discussion of environmental issues,
action alerts, announcements, opinions, etc. Let's talk about the issues
and the votes, and as Joyce Naffier said, "with an amount of good manners".
