Adam,

Former EPC Commissioners, Jerry Peckumn, Francis Thicke, Lisa Davis Cook,
Me, we understand the pro-pollution political pressure and frankly, it's
just corporate imperialist bullshit. Ethics, conscience, leaving something
for the next generation, that's what matters. No job, no project is worth
it.ever seen the movie "Thank You for Not Smoking"? It puts it all in a
great perspective.

I refer you to Article 1, Section 102(a) of the US Clean Water Act. And I
agree with NRC Commissioner Liz Garst (quoted in the D.M. Register) that a
kid playing in a creek is part of Iowa's natural resources.

Clean Water Act, Title I, Section 102(a), "The Administrator shall, after
careful investigation, and in cooperation with. [agencies, municipalities
and industries involved]., prepare or develop comprehensive programs for
preventing, reducing, or eliminating the pollution of the navigable waters
and ground waters and improving the sanitary condition of surface and
underground waters. In the development of such comprehensive programs due
regard shall be given to the improvements which are necessary to conserve
such waters for the protection and propagation of fish and aquatic life and
wildlife, recreational purposes, and the withdrawal of such waters for
public water supply, agricultural, industrial, and other purposes."
(emphasis mine)

Please consider this comment to be in opposition of the DNR proposal to
downgrade some 300 streams in one broad stroke.
