Sierrans are invited to attend Iowa Citizen Action Network's Annual
Leadership Assembly on Saturday, October 4th (also the date of the Sierra Club's Annual
Dinner).  Registration will begin at 8:30 AM and the day will conclude at
4:30 PM.  It will be held at the Sheraton Four Points North Hotel in Des Moines,
4800 Merle Hay Road.  So, if you want to attend the ICAN meeting in the
morning, you'll still have time to come out to Neal Smith for the Sierra Club dinner
in the afternoon!

The Leadership Assembly is the time when ICAN's allies, affiliates, and
members come together to build the progressive movement in Iowa.  Participants will
learn about critical issues; attend hands-on workshops; hear motivational,
progressive speakers; and provide direct input for ICAN's future direction.
Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL) will deliver our keynote speech.  Since 1998,
Rep. Schakowsky has been an outstanding leader on progressive issues in the
U.S. House of Representatives.

This is an especially important time for ICAN and their allies because they
are working to build collective power through a shared agenda.
