There are some additional costs that we also cover as part of our annual
dinner. We have several award winners that we invite as our guests.
We hope to use this as a fundraiser as well, as we get more people the fixed
costs are covered and we can make a little money. With the auction proceeds
that also helps us raise money. With the funds that we raise, we are able to
pursue our lobbying efforts, keep our office open, and continue our other
envrionmental efforts.
We have reviewed the price we are charging for this meeting against other
group's prices. There are other groups that are charging significantly more for
their annual meeting than we are.
Although the cost of this meeting may be too high for some of you, we hope
you will continue to support the Sierra Club by attending other events, writing
letters to our legislature on environmental issues, and donating what you can.

Jo,
Thanks for the reply. I tried to send this to your own address, but it was
rejected, so I am replying to your message.
Sounds like you need both a new site and new food source if $35 is the
break even price. That is ridiculous. We won't be coming. Sorry.
Dennis

It was set at the break-even price needed to cover the cost of the food
and renting the facility. I am sure it will be an interesting
program--I have met the speaker and heard him talk just briefly about
his experiences, and am looking forward to hearing more and seeing his
pictures.
Good food (locally grown to the extent possible), entertaining speaker,
and pleasant company--a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon! I do
hope you decide to come.
