CLINTON, DAVENPORT DISCHARGE WASTEWATER

DAVENPORT — The cities of Davenport and Clinton have reported wastewater discharges to the DNR following problems with sewer equipment.
 
In Davenport, city employees discovered a crack in a sewer pipe along Silver Creek at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The city estimates the cracked pipe is sending between 50 and 100 gallons of untreated wastewater per day to Silver Creek, and will continue until the pipe is repaired Wednesday. Silver Creek flows into Duck Creek several miles before Duck Creek meets the Mississippi River.
 
In Clinton, a pump plugged with leaves and debris was sending untreated wastewater to the Mississippi River. City employees stopped the discharge from the 20th Ave. pumping station around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and estimate the discharge may have began Sunday. The city has removed the debris and the pump is operating again. The amount discharged is currently unknown.
