Nussle Tour - Nussle Allowed Arctic drilling!

Hello,
Breaking news: Nussle is doing a statewide Tour.

Please consider taking a message on protecting the Arctic National Wildlife
Refuge to him.
We are deeply disappointed with Budget Chair Rep. Nussle who has previously
promised to keep drilling out of the budget - he has failed to do so and
drilling is now a part of the Budget Reconciliation Bill.

It would be great to get people to as many of the stops along Representative
Nussle's trip as we can. From the article (pasted below) it appears that he
is doing his kick-off in Manchester at the Delaware County Courthouse on
June 1st, as well as the Des Moines airport midmorning (9:15 am) and Sioux
City, Council Bluffs, Cedar Rapids, and Dubuque University.

Nussle's planned stops on June 2 include Muscatine, Ottumwa, Pella, Mason
City, Waterloo, Fort Dodge and Ames. On June 3, he plans to visit Le Mars,
Orange City, Sioux Center, Sheldon and Spencer. Then Nussle and his wife,
Karen, will set out with key backers on a four-day road trip in a
recreational vehicle, with stops in smaller towns across the state.

As you are aware, America's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge faces
unprecedented threats. With the Bush administration and a Congress
determined to abuse the budget process, they've already pushed through a
non-binding budget resolution that allows drilling in our beloved Arctic
Refuge - we are gearing up for next round in this fight. The next step is to
amend the Budget Reconciliation Bill to remove all possibility of drilling
in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

The message: We need to stress that we do not want to see drilling in the
Refuge and we are disappointed that Nussle caved and allowed it. Let him
know that Iowans care about protecting our national treasure the Arctic
National Wildlife Refuge.

The biggest thing that we need to do is to let Representative Nussle know
that the fight to protect the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge is far from
over and that he will have another chance to protect this beautiful national
treasure. The Question he needs to hear from across the State is: MR.
NUSSLE - Will you vote FOR an amendment removing the possibility of drilling
in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from the Budget Reconciliation?

Thanks!

Nussle lays out plans for trip across state
By THOMAS BEAUMONT

Iowa Rep. Jim Nussle unveiled details Wednesday of a statewide barnstorming
trip beginning June 1, when he is expected to announce his plans to seek the
2006 Republican gubernatorial nomination.

Nussle plans to begin a three-day fly-around at the Delaware County
Courthouse in Manchester, which he has represented in Congress since 1993.

Nussle is scheduled to speak in Des Moines at a midmorning announcement at
the airport, as well as after the Manchester kickoff and a stop at Dubuque
University in Dubuque.

Doors open at 9:15 a.m. for the Des Moines event, planned for the KFS
hangar, near the entrance to the airport on Fleur Drive.

From there, Nussle plans to stop in Sioux City and Council Bluffs before
winding up his first day of campaigning in Cedar Rapids.

He plans to visit 48 cities in 37 counties over seven days.

Nussle joins Sioux City businessman Bob Vander Plaats in seeking the
nomination. Vander Plaats sought the GOP nod in 2002, announced his
candidacy in January.

Nussle's planned stops on June 2 include Muscatine, Ottumwa, Pella, Mason
City, Waterloo, Fort Dodge and Ames. On June 3, he plans to visit Le Mars,
Orange City, Sioux Center, Sheldon and Spencer.

Then Nussle and his wife, Karen, will set out with key backers on a four-day
road trip in a recreational vehicle, with stops in smaller towns across the
state.
