i have to weigh in on this. it's all a question of intent, isn't it? either
we want to make it easy as possible for all citizens to vote, or 'we' want
to suppress the vote. systems are easy to create that do either thing. it
is obvious what the intent of many conservative politicians is. and i find
that disgusting. I really like what Bernie Sanders said, that those who
suppress voting are political cowards--they do not have confidence in their
own ideas. so they have to cheat.

Also, having election day be a holiday and having all citizens be
automatically registered makes the most sense to me.
