Thanks Neila, They are still using tax dollars to shoot wolves from
planes and gas pups in dens in AK. It's outrageous our tax dollars are
being used to protect Ranchers who graze cheap on public lands! This was
another good opportunity for citizens to make our voices heard to protect
our precious wild wolves. Phyllis

Comment Period Extended for Gray Wolf Delisting Plan

High-end Items Sought for Dec. 14 Wonderland Auction
Americans Push Back Against Tongass Big Thorne Sale
Attn Gmail Users: You May Be Missing Our Messages
Cascadia Blog Hits One-Year Milestone

Cascadia Wildlands, together with a nationwide coalition, has been
encouraging members of the public to speak out against the Obama
administration's proposal to remove the gray wolf from the federal
Endangered Species Act. Thanks to supporters like you, we have already
generated nearly 500,000 comments, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service
just extended the comment deadline to October 28 and announced it is
hosting public meetings in Washington D.C., Sacramento and Albuquerque on
the delisting proposal. We are pushing for additional meetings,
particularly here in the Northwest. Now more than ever we need you to
weigh in, if you haven't already, to encourage the administration to
maintain protections for recovering wolves. And if you missed it, check
out what our partners at The North Face and Black Diamond had to say
about the proposed delisting. (Wolf photo by USFWS.)

Here at Cascadia Wildlands, we are gearing up for our biggest and
most important fundraising event of the year, our annual Wonderland
Auction on December 14, 2013 in the EMU Ballroom at the University of
Oregon. And we need your help. Last year, our partnership with more than
200 businesses and individuals such as yourself raised nearly $40,000 for
our conservation work and attracted more than 300 attendees. Whether you
have been a supporter for many years, or are a new friend, we hope that
you will help make this year’s event a success again by donating an item
or package that best represents your business, perhaps even upgrading
your donation, or becoming an event sponsor. Please visit our website or
call us at 541-434-1463 and ask to speak with Camille if you'd like more
information on the benefits of donating or sponsoring. (Item donors at
the $100 and above level receive two complimentary tickets to the event!)

At 5,000 acres the Big Thorne timber sale on Alaska's Tongass
National Forest is one of the largest proposed national forest old-growth
clearcuts in recent memory. To get this sale stopped we have to develop
formalized public outcry and bring more people into our cause. To do the
former we have created a petition to the Secretary of Agriculture which
you can sign and to do the latter we have created a Tag the Tongass page
on facebook where people can “like” the page to get updates on Big Thorne
and also share their photos of southeast Alaska by simply tagging them
with “Tag the Tongass.” Help your friends understand that the Marine
Highway, Sitka, Juneau and Ketchikan are all part of a Tongass that is at
risk as well as 25-30% of all wild salmon caught on the West Coast. Get
active, tag and keep following Gabe Scott’s blogs. And thanks to all who
came out to our Tongass talk at Cozmic in Eugene last week! (Tongass

Are Gmail's New Inbox Tabs Hiding our Messages to You?

If you're like us, we're pretty sure you receive a lot of emails every
day. We understand that wading through them may be an exhausting task, so
we understand if you like Gmail's new tabbed inbox system. We're just
concerned you may be missing our messages as a result.

If you believe in our work to save Cascadia's diverse and sustaining
wildlands, please take this moment to make sure Gmail's inboxes are not
hiding our messages to you in their new "Promotions" tab.

Here’s how to make sure that our emails always show up where you will see
them:

STEP 1: Click on the Promotions inbox tab, then click on a Cascadia
Wildlands email and drag it over to your Primary tab.

STEP 2: Click Yes in the message box that appears to make sure all future
Cascadia Wildlands emails will go right to your Primary Tab.

We thank you for your support, and for taking the time to make sure we
are able to keep you up to date.
For those of you who do not use gmail, please forward this message along
to a gmail using friend. Thank you!

Our blog passed its one-year anniversary a short time ago which
made us want to take a moment to thank all of you for making that
publication a success. You have made it work so we want to re-share a few
of the gems from over the past year that have had an impact and deserve a
second look (or first if you didn't catch them). The top five blog posts
starting with the fifth most shared by short title are: Hobbits, Don
Peay, Dead Wolves, Wolf Waltz, and coming in at number one by a snout is
Wolf Bigotry. So if you have not had a chance to read these, please do
and share them. We would also urge you to read our other posts because
they are all special in their own way. (Wolf pups photo by International
Wolf Center.)
