ACTION ALERT!
House to vote THURSDAY on Arctic National Wildlife Refuge drilling bill.
CALL NOW AT 1-800-841-7299 TO TELL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE TO VOTE NO!
THAT'S 1-800-841-7299.
I know what you're thinking, "haven't I heard this one before?". The
answer is "yes, you have" because the only thing that the Oil
Administration and their allies in Congress can ever think of whenever
confronted with any problem is to drill for oil in America's Arctic
National Wildlife Refuge. In a cynical attempt to look as though they
are doing something about high gas prices, the House of Representatives
will vote THURSDAY (yes, tomorrow, May 25) on legislation to open the
Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling. This proposal is nothing
more than a sneak attack on the pristine Arctic Refuge and another
massive give-away to Big Oil companies already making obscene profits.
Allowing drilling in America’s Arctic Refuge will do nothing at all to
lower gas prices this year, or next year, or even the next year. The
Department of Energy’s own analysts tell us that drilling in the Arctic
Refuge wouldn’t lower gas prices for twenty years, and then by only a
penny per gallon. Pennies for consumers, billions more in profits for
Big Oil.
Now is the time for Congress to pursue cleaner, cheaper, safer and
quicker energy solutions that safeguard not sacrifice special places like
the Arctic Refuge. America can be on the vanguard of adopting smart
energy solutions based on conservation, clean renewable energy sources
and improved efficiency standards like making our cars go farther on a
gallon of gas.
Take a moment and send Congress a message – tell them that drilling in
America’s Arctic Refuge will do nothing to solve high gas prices and will
only save us a penny twenty years from now. Tell them to vote against any
legislation that gives away the Arctic Refuge to Big Oil.
