Well said, Phil. The Bushites are every bit as appalling on the environment
as I thought they would be, however, I don't need an opposing candidate's
advance staff reminding me of that via this list-serve. Jennifer, I can
understand your enthusiasm, but what you've delivered here is the equivalent
of political spam.

There's also a not-so-buried assumption here that all Sierra Club members
are Democrats, or maybe Greens. There are, however, Sierrans who also are
Republicans. Although I do not fit this latter category, I know and respect
the Club's long commitment to BIPARTISAN advocacy for the environment. Let's
not compromise that.

    Jennifer,
Pro-environment yes, of course. Using this listserve as a forum for
advocating for a specific candidate is what I question. There are many other
venues, and the club has been fairly scrupulous about keeping its distance
from this kind of stuff in the past.
While I would love to get into a debate about the various merits of your
and my preferences, considering that there are now 10 major and several
minor ( heard of Fern Penna, anyone?) Democratic candidates in the running,
this listserve would soon become useless if we each started weighing in.
For the sake of all the readers of this list, let's take it elsewhere.

P.S. And if you reply again, delete your original posting as I have

I apologize for offending anyone on the list-serve, that is
certainly not the intention. I believe we would all be on the same side of
electing a pro-environment candidate to the White House. There are several
excellent candidates running and we share the same goal.
