Guest column: Power up small windfarms, too, lawmakers

Global warming, fossil-fuel depletion and rising energy prices are big topics in the news these days, and most of the time the solutions revolve around alternative energy. While Iowa has passed many laws to bring wind energy to the state, those same laws don't seem to apply equally to all wind-turbine installations. Small-scale, wind-energy systems - the kind you use for your home or farm - don't get equal treatment in the Iowa Legislature, but there are things we can do to change that trend.
