For immediate release

The first Central Iowa Organic Consumer/Grower Conference will take place on
May 5, 2001 at the Aldersgate Methodist Church, 3600 75th Street in
Urbandale, one block south of Douglas Avenue.

Doors will open at 8 am. and the workshops are from 9:00 am. to 4:00 pm. The
conference's purpose is to help tie the bridge between growers and consumers
that have interest in pursuing sustainable futures in agriculture and
consumer awareness. Participants will benefit from the knowledge and
community growth provided through this event, regardless of their
familiarity with the organic movement.

Several presenters/facilitators will be hosting sessions simultaneously
occurring in up to seven different rooms at once, with a capacity for
hundreds of people.

Presenters/facilitators are representatives from the following
organizations:
Botanical Center
Iowa Network for Community Agriculture
United States Department of Agriculture
Iowa State University,
The Center For Food Safety in Washington D.C.
New City Market
various organic farms around Iowa
Community Gardens of Des Moines
and much more.

The event is free of cost to all participants.

Lunch will be available at a cost of $9.00.

Live music will be provided by Epiphany, a local acoustical ensemble that
has been playing in Iowa for several years.

Registration for the lunch and workshop selection will be requested by April
24.
