Here is some recently released info detailing how toxic it is to burn household trash which is all too common in much of Iowa.

An overview of the research paper can be found at:
http://cnn.com/2000/NATURE/01/10/trash.burning.enn/

The actual research paper is at:
http://pubs.acs.org/cgi-bin/jtextd?esthag/asap/html/es990465t.html

Has anyone done any work on curtailing this practice in Iowa?

I have called the governor's office over this very topic in the past. I had/have been motivated to do so from living
by neighbors who are legally allowed to pollute the air I breathe and prevent me from even stepping outside on some
days. It doesn't help when I also see how widespread it is at least in my part of the state. To top it off, the ashes
of these barrels are being dumped in waterways in most cases.
