Would anyone in IA Sierra Club host this party? This week, thanks to
Karen Tigges, Co-Chair of the Iowa Sierra Club Alaska Wilderness
Committee, we have 5 Arctic Refuge programs for classes at Drake
University, Simpson College and the Des Moines Montessori school.
Another Committee member Kevin Marquardt, ISU student is writing an Op-ed
for the Des Moines Register for the Arctic Refuge's 50th Anniversary. If
anyone else could give this party it would be a tremendous help to the
effort. With the new Congress, all our public lands are grave danger.
Phyllis

Dear friends,
The Sierra Club – Northwest Office is hosting an Arctic office-house
party and hope you can make it!
The "biological heart" of Alaska is once again under threat and we need
all the voices we can to urge President Obama to make a long lasting
commitment to a place we love. During the house party we will watch "The
Refuge" a 10-minute film about our love affair with the Arctic, along
with discussion questions and materials. After the movie we'll take a
moment to discuss the film. Party goers will also be asked to sign a
special anniversary card to President Barak Obama advising him to make
our national refuge a national monument – which we will deliver to the
President.
