Mississippi River Workshops -12 locations throughout April This series of
public workshops will provide new information about the science of river
restoration, present maps of current river conditions, and ask people to
help answer:

1) What do you think are significant natural resources in the study area?
2) What do you think are problems or opportunities for habitat restoration
and protection in the area?
3) How would you describe “success” for the natural environment in your
area?

The public’s input will be used to help the Upper Mississippi River
Conservation Committee and the National Audubon Society develop an Atlas of
Habitat Restoration and Protection Opportunities for the Upper Mississippi

Offer Volunteer Opportunities to Lt. Governor Pederson Lieutenant Governor
Sally Pederson is interested in one-day volunteering opportunities for
herself to increase awareness and highlight opportunities for volunteer
participation. Write her with your ideas and invitations at the State
Capitol, Des Moines, IA 50319. How about environmental education programs,
prairie burns, tree planting, etc.?

Loess Hills Prairie Seminar The Loess Hills Prairie Seminar will be held on
May 21-22- 23, 1999. There is no registration fee,  but participants must
register early to receive the meals. All of that information will be in the
brochure, which will be sent to you a couple of weeks (hopefully) before
