Interstate Power and Light Company (IPL), an Alliant Energy Company subsidiary serving Iowa, recently announced its intent to construct, maintain, and operate a new 650-megawatt natural gas-fired electric generation facility in Marshall County. As required by Iowa law and before such projects can proceed, the Iowa Utilities Board (IUB) will oversee a public information meeting in which IPL representatives will publicly discuss and answer questions regarding their proposed electric generation project.
This important public meeting will be held:
· Thursday, October 4, 2012, 6:00 p.m.
· Regency Inn Best Western, 3303 South Center Street, Marshalltown.
Once this informational meeting is held, IPL may file a petition with the IUB seeking authority to proceed with building the proposed natural gas-fired power plant. After such a filing, the Board will issue an order establishing a procedural schedule in a generating certificate (GCU) docket, and will begin accepting public comments to be included as part of the permanent record in the case file.
Information filed in GCU dockets is posted to the IUB’s online electronic filing system at https://efs.iowa.gov/efs/.
