As someone who mistakenly posted to the listserve when intending to respond
to an individual, I'd like to plead for mercy on behalf of those of us who make
this mistake. Of course it's an annoying mistake for others on the
listserve, and if we make it repeatedly, we are at fault. But I was very grateful
that people on this listserve were willing to cut me a little slack when I did
it. The mild horror of seeing my private message on the listserve was
embarrassing enough to be a considerable incentive to be more careful in the future,
and I'll bet the same is true for others. Thank you all, and Happy New Year!

"I watched the miles and miles of flat Nebraska prairie come into view. My
fellow passengers expressed themselves as being bored...But as I sat watching, I
gradually began to feel a great force arise from these flat lands, and I knew
that here lay something far deeper, far more powerful, than anything I had
experienced before in the great outdoors." (Jens Jensen)
