"Iowa DNR Director Chuck Gipp said extending the period would be considered if ISU, which is collecting the comments, receives a large influx in comments over the next few days."


That is ridiculous. If lots of people were able to comment in the next few days, they would not need an extension of the comment period.

Forwarded to me by someone who attended the meeting in Ames.
 

and of course the first sentence is wrong.  The strategy does not propose more restrictions on farming, as if farming had any restrictions in the first place.
