 MISSOURI RIVER AUTHORITY SEEKING PUBLIC INPUT AT JUNE 17 DES MOINES MEETING

DES MOINES - An interagency, interstate group that makes recommendations on Missouri River policies will discuss visions for the river and an upcoming series of meetings to gather Iowans' thoughts on the river's future. 

 

The State Interagency Missouri River Authority will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. on June 17 in the fourth floor conference room of the Wallace State Office Building, 502 E. Ninth St., Des Moines. The meeting is open to the public.  Public participation is scheduled for late on the agenda. 


"We're scheduled a series of meetings to learn what Iowans want from the river," said Bernie Hoyer, special assistant to the DNR director. "How is the river used and what future uses do people who live near the river envision?"

2.      Introduction of  next  DNR representative to State Interagency Missouri River Authority (SIMRA)

4.      Select Alternate Director for Missouri River Association of States and Tribes (MoRAST)  from SIMRA Membership

5.      Discussion of Payment for $12,500 MoRAST  Dues for One Iowa Vote

6.      Discussion of Missouri River Corridor Vision Plan of Study 

7.      Public Participation

8.      For the Good of the River

·         Missouri River Authorized Purposes Study (MRAPS) Scoping Meetings Convenient for Iowans

o   June 22, 2010; Council Bluffs, IA;  Mid-American Center; 5-8 PM

Five Iowa agencies are represented on the Missouri River Authority. They include the Governor's office; the Secretary of Agriculture: the Chair of the Utilities Board; and the Directors of the departments of natural resources, transportation and economic development or their designees.
