The "Walk to Washington, D.C., for the Arctic Refuge" will arrive in Cedar
Falls on October 10th. The project is a three-month, 3500-mile
self-propelled journey across the continent to draw attention to the
necessity of protecting the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife
Refuge. The trip, by foot and by bicycle, began in Seattle on August 23rd
and will end in Washington, D.C., on November 16th.

Ken Madsen, an award-winning photographer and writer, will be making this
journey. He will present a multi-media slide show about the Arctic Refuge at
the Center for Energy and Environmental Education (CEEE) on the University of
Northern Iowa campus on October 10th at 7 PM.

The CEEE building in on Jennings Drive, south of University Avenue. Parking
is available in the B lots on Campus Street, also south of University Avenue.
Anyone parking in spaces near the CEEE will be ticketed.

Although there will be a collection plate to help finance the Walk to
Washington, the program is free and open to the public.

For complete details, visit www.cariboucommons.com/walk or call Bruce Stiles
at 319-235-9907.
