I agree that the Agnone study is interesting. My first thought upon reading
the findings, however, was that U.S. society has changed dramatically since
1964, and so have the Republican and Democratic parties.
I'd be more interested in a study that focused on the past fourteen years.
In any case, given what has happened to civil protests and protesters
recently, as pointed out by Bill Witt, I find it hard to believe that the biggest
reason we are in our current predicament is because we haven't been doing enough
street protests.
