confirms the emergence of Roundup resistant horseweed (marestail) in
Delaware, following several years of Roundup use first as a no-till
burndown, and recently as a burndown and over the top spray with RR beans
(several fields probably treated three times). Three significant pieces of
information are in the story --

* Resistance is present to both Roundup (glyphosate) and the closely
related Touchdown (sulfosate, or glyphosate-trimesium) herbicides. Many in
the GM-community had argued that cross-resistance was not likely, but as
predicted by many other weed scientists, it has now occurred.

* Resistance is at a very high level -- 10-X full application rates of both
a.i.'s had no impact on the resistant weeds.

* Resistance is transferred via the seed to the next generation.
