SEN. HARKIN TO BE GUEST OF THE IOWA ENVIRONMENTAL
COUNCIL TO DISCUSS THE FEDERAL FARM BILL AND
THE CONSERVATION SECURITY ACT:
Senator Tom Harkin's office confirmed with the Council this morning that

the Senator has accepted the Council's invitation to speak to us about
the
Farm Bill and the Conservation Security Act -- Harkin's proposal to pay
farmers for engaging in conservation measures.    The meeting with
Senator
Harkin is FRIDAY, AUGUST 10 FROM 2:30 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
We are workingto arrange the location, and will let you know that soon.
Senator Harkin is the new chair of the U.S. Senate Agriculture
Committee.
