Dal Grooms does not represent farmers ["Hate Clouds ICCI's Views of
Livestock Issues in Iowa," June 18]. She and her public relations
colleagues represent out-of-state corporations that conduct their
operations in Iowa, pollute our public water and expect Iowans to drink
it or pay to clean it up.
The vast majority of hogs raised in Iowa belong to out-of-state
corporations, not the farmer producing them. Grooms should meet the
responsible farmers who belong to Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement
so she has some understanding that food can be produced without torturing
animals and poisoning people.
— Erich Riesenberg, Des Moines
