Subject: Iowa DNR Draft General Permit for Pesticides

Iowa DNR is developing a draft National Pollutant Discharge Elimination 
System (NPDES) general permit for discharges of pesticides to Iowa waters. 
This is a court-ordered general permit that will primarily cover pesticide 
applications for control of mosquitoes, aquatic weeds, algae, and nuisance 
aquatic animals.  The draft permit contains fewer requirements for small 
applicators than for large applicators.  Iowa DNR will host an open meeting 
to present the draft general permit and answer questions on the permit, 
including who will be impacted by the permit and the proposed requirements. 
The meeting will take place on June 29, 2010 from 1:00 to 4:00 in the 4th 
floor conference rooms of the Wallace Building in Des Moines.  If we have a 
large number of attendees, the meeting will be moved to the Wallace Building 
Auditorium.  More information can be found at:

will be posted on this website by Tuesday, June 15th.
