Attention Water Activists:

We have compiled factsheets for a number of states detailing projected
problems and effects of the Bush administrations' plan to withdraw Clean
Water Act protection from many small streams, ponds and wetlands. We hope
these factsheets will be beneficial as general information for LTE's and
for public education, lobbying tools, and ammunition for organizing
campaigns. The information in these factsheets has been gathered from the
comments to the proposed rulemaking submitted by state and inter-state
organizations.

Topics covered in these factsheets include: a general explanation of the
SWANCC decision and the proposed rulemaking, statistics regarding
number/percentage of waters affected, specific types of wetlands in the
area with the species that depend on them, state laws and their
ability/inability to assume responsibility for the waters in jeopardy,
projected economic consequences, and the resulting implications on the
national level.

States available are: Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Maine,
Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New York, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin.

Please help spread this information; use these statistics to write letters
to the editor or in communications with your Senator or Representative. To
obtain a copy of one or more of these sheets, please contact

Thank you so much for your continued efforts and support.

Sincerely,
