On Thursday, November 15th, there will be a two-hour discussion of
antibiotic overuse in animal agriculture, its public health impacts, and
possible steps in Iowa to reduce this overuse.

This discussion will take place in the Governor's Room of the Hotel
Fort Des Moines, from 7-9 p.m on the 15th. It precedes by one day a Town
Meeting, co-sponsored by the University of Iowa and the National Institute
of Environmental Health Sciences on health impacts of CAFOs, also at the
Hotel Fort Des Moines.

**There is a two-page article about this issue that I can forward to you if
you contact me at [log in to unmask]

David Wallinga, M.D. of the Institute for Agriculture and Trade
Policy, Tim Kautza of NCRLC and Steve Roach of Food Animals Concerns Trust
(FACT)
are working together to hold this discussion.

IATP, FACT and NCRLC are all involved in a national effort to
address this issue, called Keep Antibiotics Working: The Campaign to
End Antibiotic Overuse. More information is available at the website,
http://www.KeepAntibioticsWorking.com/.
