IMPAIRED WATERS, VOLUNTEER MONITORS TO BE HIGHLIGHTED AT ANNUAL CONFERENCE

AMES - The state of Iowa's water quality will again be the center of

The Third Annual Water Monitoring Conference will be held Feb. 19-20 at the
Scheman Building on the Iowa State University campus.

Louis J. Guillette Jr., Ph.D., a zoology professor from the University of

"Contaminants and Wildlife: Lessons from the Swamp," will focus on the
methods by which environmental factors influence the evolution, development
and functioning of the reproduction system in vertebrates. For more
information on Professor Guillette and his work, visit his Web site at
http://www.zoo.ufl.edu/ljg/index.htm.

Several other informative and enlightening workshops will be offered,

Discussion on Iowa's Water Quality Policies and Standards," "Water Quality
and Conservation in Iowa: A Farmer's Point of View," and "Volunteers in
Action," which will include presentations from volunteer groups across Iowa.

Poster presentations are welcome. All citizens interested in water quality
are encouraged to attend.
