Subject: Iowa State Parks - Input Sought on Draft Proposed Rule

You are receiving this e-mail as you have been identified as a 2015 Iowa state park visitor and potential stakeholder.

DNR is seeking informal public comment on a draft proposed rule under consideration that would ban alcohol year-round on all beaches in state parks and state recreation areas. More specifically, the proposed ban would apply to the sand or the fenced in area of the beach, the adjacent designated swimming area, and a 200-foot land buffer surrounding the sand or fenced in area. Rental facilities that are within the 200-foot land buffer that have been formally reserved through the DNR will not be subject to the ban.

This ban is being considered because incidents reveal a continued pattern of excessive alcohol consumption at multiple state beaches, which threatens the safety of the general public and personnel.

Comments may be directed to Jessica Manken at 515-725-8488 or at [log in to unmask] through close of business on Monday, December 21, 2015.
