Sorry for the short notice for this posting, but I though that there might be
some people on this list who might be interested in what
environmentally-minded students are doing in Iowa.  Though the event is being
coordinated through a network of college environmental groups (Iowa STEP), it
will be very professional and totally legal.  All are invited.

*** TAKE ACTION AGAINST BP-AMOCO, FIGHT FOR THE ARCTIC ***

Environmentalists across the country have mobilized around saving the Arctic
National Wildlife Refuge, which is currently threatened by pressure from oil
companies to drill in the last pristine tract of Alaska's North Slope. We need
to say NO to these efforts and fight for the preservation of this valuable
Refuge by telling oil companies like BP-Amoco that we disapprove of their
actions.

WHEN: Thursday, May 11
9:30 am to 11:00 am

WHERE: Amoco distribution center
1501 Clive, West Des Moines

WHAT: 9:30 Gather on site, talk to press, wave signs, yell
10 Press conference
10:15 Enter the office to deliver petitions and statements
Invite the press to observe
Ask the manager to call BP-Amoco about the action
10:30 Leave with a feeling of contentment

WHO: Iowa STEP activists, Iowa environmentalists, and guests

This is our LAST ACTION OF THE YEAR!!! Let's make it good.
