Activists who are already over-committed--as many of our best leaders are--may be asked to give up some of their current commitments in order to serve effectively as a Committee member. For a better idea of the work we do, please review the description of EJC below and the list of qualifications for appointment that precede the application form below.Selection of a minimum of four (4) committee members will be based on several criteria, including: (1) enthusiasm for environmental justice activism; (2) relevant area of interest and/or expertise; (3) geographic location; (4) willingness to work for an integrated program of environmental justice in the Sierra Club; (5) commitment to remain active on the committee for at least two years; (6) ability to communicate effectively orally and electronically; and (7) capacity to work both as part of a team and as an individual activist (while remaining in contact with the committee for guidance and consent).Appointments to the EJC are made by The Environmental Quality Strategy Team (EQST, part of the Conservation Governance Committee, CGC), based on the application and phone interviews with prospective candidates. Interviewers represent the EQST and EJC. If you are interested in submitting your name for consideration, please read and follow the instructions completely. If you know of others who might be interested, please pass this announcement on to them.
