New science

Work just published in the Proceedings of the
National
Academy of Sciences (US) by Tyrone Hayes, U.C.
Berkeley,
reveals that extremely low-level atrazine exposure
induces hermaphrodatism and demasculinization in
African clawed toads, the "laboratory rat" of the
frog world. Atrazine caused hermaphrodatism at
exposure levels beneath concentrations of atrazine
that can be found in rainwater in the US... away
from regions of atrazine application... and at
1/30th
the level allowed in drinking water.
