I think this would go a long way to reducing the number of hogs in Iowa. It
must since Grassely and Earnst are against it.

Called the EATS Act, the legislation

would prevent states and local jurisdictions from regulating the production
and distribution of agricultural products in interstate commerce.

Prop 12, which passed in California in 2008, would prohibit the sale of
pork in state if the animals were raised in conditions that are
inconsistent with California law; under Prop 12’s standards, the sows must
be able to turn around freely, lie down, stand up and fully extend their
limbs. Effective Jan. 1, the law would affect roughly 15% of the nation’s
pork supply, and according to an Associated Press report

only 4% of hog farms nationwide comply with California’s standards.

“California shouldn’t be allowed to punish hardworking farmers and

and eggs to Americans across the country,” Ernst said in a statement
