Wallace, You have a new comment for Corporations Are Not "We the People"

Money spent by the one-percenters and corporate interests, through Rove’s American Crossroads etc., achieved little. Now is a great time for Sierran activists to step up our support for local Move To Amend efforts, to seize a moment when corporate influence on politics has been discredited by this week’s election results. Like in judo, where the big man’s loss of balance can be exploited to throw him, MTA can be a vehicle for immediate, focused, ongoing, and accelerating public movement against corporate dominance. Furthermore, co-lateral benefits can be obtained if Sierran activists will step up to support the activity of Citizens Climate Lobby, which is pushing for a Carbon Fee and Dividend (see http://www.citizensclimatelobby.org/files/images/FeeAndDividendLegProposal081811.pdf and http://www.citizensclimatelobby.org/ ). The Koch Bros. and the entire fossil fuel industry’s political dominance was not enhanced by this week’s election results, so it is a good time for the Carbon Fee and Dividend proposal to be pushed by progressives, as a positive vision of how our government can incentivize individual and corporate actions toward a larger role for renewable energy and energy efficiency.
