Last night at the city council meeting the Hallett's quarry development
requested by Hubble Realty was denied by the Ames City Council. Again
experts, some of whom had given up some portion of their vacation to be
there, testified. Erv Klass came with a list of possible funding sources
for purchasing and developing the land.

A second motion was made and passed directing officials to investigate
developing the area as a park.

Kudos to the city council and everyone who took part by calling, writing or
attending the meeting to show support for this environmentally sensible
alternative.
