Subject: hog lot protest with Grinnell
Welcome Back SEC!
Grinnell's green group, led by Emily Mize, who some of you may know,
would like some SEC members to join them in a Stop Factory Farms Rally
and Lobby Day at the State Capitol. THe rally takes place January 12 at
10am. This is the same day as the Governor-elect Vilsack's State of the
State address and the opening of the legislative session. Iowa Citizens
for Community Improvement (ICCI), the folks planning the rally, will also
be meeting with Vilsack and key legislators to discuss the issue of
factory farms.
I believe Emily said it best: "All of us are being affected by hog
factories. Family farms are being taken away. Communities are being
destroyed. It is important that as many people come as possible to show
support for ICCI and to demand change."
So pick your issue--sustainable agriculture, the death of rural communities,
water quality, animal cruelty, or human health and come to the Capital
Jan 12 at 10am.
email me for more info or emily mize ([log in to unmask]) or call her at
232-8661 (Ames number).
Thanks!
Jennifer
