Honey Creek Resort Kicks Off Lottery Promotion this Week
$20 Certificate to Resort Available for Non-Winning Powerball Ticket Holders
DES MOINES, IA - In a new promotion that encourages in-state tourism to Iowa's top vacation destinations, Honey Creek Resort State Park is partnering with the Iowa Lottery and Iowa Tourism Office to kick off the "Experience Iowa" campaign.
"Staying in Iowa for summer vacations gives families the chance to experience all the outdoor recreation opportunities our state has to offer," said Richard Leopold, director of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. "Honey Creek Resort State Park, with its boating, fishing, trails and other natural amenities is a perfect place to experience it."
Holders of non-winning Powerball tickets for the upcoming Sat., May 2nd drawing can visit the Iowa Lottery website at www.ialottery.com <http://www.ialottery.com/> and receive a $20 certificate for many amenities at Honey Creek Resort State Park, including golf, restaurant meals, overnight stays and more. The special offer will be available at the website May 3 - May 6.
Honey Creek Resort State Park is located on Rathbun Lake in Appanoose County, about 95 miles south of Des Moines. The resort state park features a lodge, indoor waterpark, 18-hole golf course, restaurant, RV campground, fishing/boating facilities. This spring, 28 cabins are opening their doors for guests.
"We believe this partnership with Iowa Lottery and the Iowa Tourism Office is a great way to remind Iowans about the fun, excitement and family memories that can be made and experienced just a short drive from home," said Leopold.
Businesses across the state have joined with the Iowa Tourism Office and the Iowa Lottery in an initiative designed to encourage people to travel Iowa this summer, frequent Iowa attractions and businesses, and give the entire state a boost in these tough economic times.
Other featured attractions in the "Keep Your Powerball Ticket Handy" summer promotion include the Iowa Speedway in Newton; Adventureland amusement park in Altoona; Riverboat Twilight, which offers riverboat trips from Le Claire to Dubuque; Kings Pointe Waterpark Resort in Storm Lake; Iowa Marriott Hotels at special participating locations; FunCity amusement park in Burlington; and the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium in Dubuque.
