National Symposium
Living with Floods:
From Science to Policy

Registration fees (US$): $25 per day, $50 both days.

The University of Iowa Public Policy Center and IIHR-Hydroscience & 
Engineering announce:  "Living with Floods: From Science to Policy," a 
symposium that brings together top academicians and agency representatives 
from across the country to consider the current state of flood "science," 
impacts, mitigation, insurance, and policy.   The symposium is especially 
appropriate for individuals affected by the flood, water resources managers, 
municipal and country leaders, and policy makers.  Registrants will have an 
opportunity to ask questions and engage symposium panel members in active 
discussion.

Keynote speaker Gerald Galloway, author of "The Galloway Report," kicks off 
the symposium with a free public lecture titled, "When will we ever learn? 
The challenge of dealing with frequent flooding," on Tuesday evening, March 
10.  The symposium follows on March 11-12.

March 1, March 2 registration deadline or thereabouts.

The University of Iowa, Public Policy Center is pleased to announce the next 
symposium in The Forkenbrock Series on Public Policy:

March 10th - Free Public Lecture:
At 7:30 in room 1505 of the Seamans Center.
"When will we ever learn? The challenge of dealing with frequent flooding." 
Gerald Galloway, author of the "Galloway Report" prepared in response to the 
flood of 1993.

March 11th - 12th-Symposium: Iowa Memorial Union, Ritchie Ballroom.
Wed March 11-Eastern Iowa and the flood of 2009, science of floods and 
hydraulics and social and environmental impacts
Thurs March 12-Flood mitigation and policy responses
